Money matters

Money Matters was a task as part of one of our modules where we are to goo through and understand different elements of money when it comes to working freelance. Working out prices can feel really difficult at the moment as it is hard to feel what is right and what is wrong. 

From being given this sheet we were to put together our bills so we could work out what we should charge per hour. Below shows my calculations so far. Right now it is hard to work it all out in terms of costs, as until I work fully freelance. From here with theses costs I can then work out what I would like to be earning and taking in the cost factors. Below shows how i have mocked this situation up, and found that to cover my costs show I would have to work at 20.00p/h, I think this is a very fair price for a freelance illustrator/designer. 

As well as working our hourly rate we were given a practice task to create a quote for a commission. In this case it was for a map design. In this activity it was broken down into different areas, including research, meetings and creative hours. This was a really interesting task and really gave me an insight into how I was to work out a quote. 

Overall I really enjoyed this task I found it useful and to create a real life scenario.
